“Lady of the Camellias” with two different casts in St. Petersburg // Festival in honour of John Neumeier
As part of the 3rd International Festival “Diaghilev. P.S.”, taking place in St. Petersburg from November 5th to November 9th in honour of John Neumeier, THE HAMBURG BALLET will give two guest performances at the Mikhailovsky Theatre: On November 6th and November 7th the company will perform John Neumeier’s ballet “Lady of the Camellias” to the music by Frédéric Chopin.
On November 6th the Russian prima ballerina Diana Vishneva from the Mariinsky Theatre will dance the role of Marguerite Gautier with Alexandre Riabko, principal dancer of THE HAMBURG BALLET, as Armand Duval. In other roles: Silvia Azzoni (Manon Lescaut), Otto Bubeníček (Des Grieux), Carolina Agüero (Olympia), Carsten Jung (M. Duval), Lucia Solari (Prudence) as well as Silvano Ballone (Gaston).
On November 7th Hélène Bouchet, principal dancer of THE HAMBURG BALLET, will perform the leading role. Her partner is Thiago Bordin, who is also a principal dancer of THE HAMBURG BALLET. This cast includes: Leslie Heylmann (Prudence), Carsten Jung (Gaston), Carolina Agüero (Manon Lescaut), Otto Bubeníček (Des Grieux), Dario Franconi (M. Duval) and Mariana Zanotto (Olympia).

Further Highlights of the 3rd International Festival “Diaghilev. P.S.” are the exhibition “Vaslav Nijinsky and John Neumeier” presented by the Foundation John Neumeier Dance Collection at the State Museum of Theatre and Music, and the gala “Neumeier Without Borders” on November 9th in the Mikhailovsky Theatre with principal dancers of THE HAMBURG BALLETT and guests from leading ballet companies of the world, as well as THE NATIONAL YOUTH BALLET and the School of THE HAMBURG BALLET. The programme will include the presentation of the book “John Neumeier in St. Peterburg” by Russian author Natalia Zozulina and an international conference titled “John Neumeier. Aspects of Creative Work“.
