«Nureyev & Friends» is a ballet gala celebrating the 75th anniversary of the birth of Rudolf Nureyev, one of the world’s most exceptional dancers. Under the patronage of the Rudolf Nureyev Foundation, the show offers a journey through the life of this extraordinary man: Rudolf, the dancer; Rudolf, the choreographer; and Rudolf, the Director of the Ballet de l’Opéra National de Paris.

The gala will naturally celebrate his life through live dance but also through archival images and testimonies illustrating the immense contribution of Rudolf Nureyev to dance and his impact on the dancers who had the live-changing opportunity to work with him.
Sixteen major international dancers will present major works that had a special significance to Rudolf: illustrating his choreography, ballets that marked special moments in his career as a dancer (especially Marguerite and Armand created for him by Margot Fonteyn and Sir Frederick Ashton in 1963), and key collaborations with world-class choreographers such as Hans van Manen.
The event, «Nureyev and Friends» will demonstrate that Rudolf Nureyev is always present, beyond history. His passion, commitment and vision have become a source of inspiration for many in the world of dance. The gala Producers (D & D Art Productions) aim to capture the spirit of this great dancer to give the audience an understanding of what Rudolf Nureyev meant to dance and dancers.
Many artist friends of Nureyev (including dancers, choreographers, fashion designers, actors) will be present at this momentous occasion.
The gala is under the artistic direction of Charles Jude, Nureyev Foundation member and director of the Ballet de l’Opéra de Bordeaux and David Makhateli, a former principal dancer with the Royal Ballet.
The orchestra will be under the direction of Valery Ovsyanikov, guest conductor at the Mariinsky Theatre and at The Royal Ballet. Olga Jegunova will interpret the Liszt sonata in Marguerite and Armand. The Scenography video is directed by Gilles Papain.
The gala will be performed at 2000 hours on 31st May and 1st June 2013 at Le Palais des Congrès de Parie
