AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE TO APPEAR AT HAVANA INTERNATIONAL BALLET FESTIVAL, NOVEMBER 3-6, 2010. PERFORMANCES TO MARK THE COMPANY’S FIRST APPEARANCE IN CUBA IN MORE THAN FIFTY YEARS
American Ballet Theatre will travel to Cuba to perform as part of the Havana International Ballet Festival, November 3-6, 2010, it was announced today by ABT’s Executive Director Rachel Moore.

El American Ballet Theatre (ABT) y figuras del New York City Ballet actuarán en Cuba en la edición 22 del Festival Internacional de Ballet de La Habana, que tendrá lugar del 28 de octubre al 7 de noviembre próximos.
La presentación del ABT, la compañía mas importante de EE.UU, que no actúa en la isla desde 1960, ha sido anunciada como uno de los momentos de "especial significación" dentro del programa del festival, según una nota de prensa del Ballet Nacional de Cuba (BNC).

A transitional period has been carefully planned during which Eduardo Vilaro, Ballet Hispanico’s Artistic Director, will take on the additional responsibilities of the administration of the organization.

Continuing its 70th Anniversary celebration, American Ballet Theatre will offer a special pre-performance talk on Friday, June 11, at 6:00 P.M. Members of ABT’s alumni will gather to discuss Jerome Robbins’ groundbreaking ballet, Fancy Free, originally commissioned by ABT in 1944.

The Mariinsky Ballet, the famous Russian ballet troupe once known as the Kirov, is to perform in Toronto in March 2011.
The Mariinsky Ballet is scheduled to perform at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, now under construction but scheduled to reopen in October 2010.
